Family Vacations

Having children throws up a whole new set of questions when deciding where to take a trip. Is there such a thing as affordable family vacations? What is the best destination for a family? Are accommodations difficult to figure out? Luckily, there are plenty of kid- and family-friendly destinations available, and cheap family vacations aren’t hard to find (yes, even affordable Disney family vacations!). Many tour packages take into account families may not have extravagant amounts of money to spend on each child, so it’s easy to find family resorts and all inclusive family vacations that make it easy to take a trip with the young ones.

The first thing anyone thinks of when they hear “vacation” and “kids” in the same sentence is Disney.  The happiest place on earth, Disneyworld in Orlando is the size of the city of Boston. There are four major theme parks, and with parades, fireworks, live stage shows, and characters that every child knows and loves, affordable Disney family vacations are on the top of every parent’s wish list to give their child. Luckily, Disney takes into account that there are many different budgets to accommodate, and has everything from budget lodging to luxury suites.

Where else besides Disneyworld is a good place to take children? For those craving some time on a tropical island, family resorts such as Beaches cater to families taking a holiday in the sun. With Sesame Street characters, waterparks, Kids Camp, and numerous activities, all inclusive family vacations in the Caribbean are easily one of the most popular trip packages. Other all inclusive family vacations, such as Riviera Maya or Cancun, also give families the option to not worry about food, drinks, or rooms.

Another cheap family vacation option is Williamsburg, VA. Kids can get an education at Colonial Williamsburg, where actors and volunteers reenact like in the 1770’s, with everything from costumes to activities to jobs portraying what life was like 230 years ago. After all that learning, head over to Busch Gardens for rides and games. Families looking for an affordable place to stay can get a room at Best Western, Marriot, or any other budget hotel.

Other affordable family vacations are easy to find, depending on how far you are willing to travel. In Arizona, the Grand Canyon, Colorado River, and Navajo history await. Just seeing these priceless sites can be considered a cheap family vacation! Myrtle Beach in South Caroline has family resorts where everyone can enjoy the beautiful beaches, great weather, and clear water. In Hershey, Pennsylvania, is Hershey Park, which FamilyFun Magazine voted top amusement park. Affordable family vacations all over the country are easily found by looking online or calling a travel agent.

So whether your destination is an island in the Caribbean, the dusty desert and majestic natural beauty of the Grand Canyon, the history and amusements of Williamsburg, or an affordable Disney family vacation, pack up the kids and hit the road. There’s lots to see and do out there!
