Tunisia Vacations

Tunisia is a mysterious, exotic country filled with ancient cities, friendly people, natural beauty, festivals and marketplaces. Only here can one watch the sun rise over the Sahara desert, and finish the evening with a meal in front of the sparkling ocean. There are miles and miles of beaches, watersports, world-class restaurants, and plenty of culture to enjoy during Tunisia vacations.

The beaches of Tunisia are beautiful, with golden sand and azure seas. Resort areas along the coastline include Djerba, Nabeul, Tabarka, Monastir, Sousse, and Hammamet. Tunisia all inclusive resorts here offer guests plenty of water activities, such as sailing, fishing, boat rides, diving, and windsurfing.  During the summer, festivals honoring Father Neptune are open to the public, and ancient ruins are only an hour or so drive from the seafront.

Tunisia all inclusive vacation packages often include tours to local historic sites. Museums and ruins hold stories of Turks, French, Spanish, Romans, Phoenicians, and Byzantines.  Carthage, home of Hannibal, holds ruins of Roman baths, temples, and shrines.
Tunisia vacations wouldn't be complete without a visit to a traditional souk, or marketplace. The art of shopping is one that many people enjoy practicing in Tunisia, where bargaining is required. This is especially fun for those who have a good sense of humor, enjoy a challenge, and want to practice their acting chops. Whether items on your souvenir list are jewelry, carpets, birdcages, handcarved wood, vases, pottery and ceramics, brass, copper, leather, wall hangings...the list is endless!

The food here in Tunisia is similar to other foods in Northern Africa. Couscous marqa stews are found at most meals, as well as spicy chili sauce and local olives. Lamb is the most popular meat, along with local seafood. Alcohol is generally restricted, due to the fact that Tunisia is a Muslim country, although it isn't extremely hard to find.

Due to the fact that this is a Muslim country, tourists on Tunisia all inclusive vacations should make sure they are familiar with local customs and rules. Women should make sure that they are dressed modestly outside of beaches and hotel complexes. Also, outside of these areas, women should use caution when going into a bar. Some bars refuse to admit women, or may ask for a passport to check nationality. As long as common sense and caution are used, safety isn't an issue here.

Finally, don't miss a trip to the Sahara desert. Date palms, rocks, and the prehistoric site of Gafsa, this massive desert is stunning.
