Crete Vacations

Legendary Crete is the largest island in Greece, renowned for its beauty and diversity. Mountain ranges are speckled with caves, and the plateaus and plains cover the interior of the island. Stunning beaches and coves are found in the south, and the ruins and history of its cities are an archeological buff's dream come true.

Crete all inclusive vacation packages should include a trip to Knossos. This is the home of the mythical Minotaur, kept by King Minos, in Greek mythology. Hania is another site to visit during Crete vacations.  The Venetian quarter is a jumble of streets that end at a beautiful harbor. The influence of ancient Turkish rulers is apparent in the former mosque on the harbor, and the and handicrafts of Hania make for superb souvenirs.

Iraklio is a busy, dynamic city. It is densely populated, and always has some form of entertainment to keep its people busy.  Visitors can explore trendy cafes and high-class restaurants, shop in the city's trendy boutiques and take walks along the riverfront. The streets resemble a maze, and there are monuments and minarets to add a dash of exoticism to the town. The Center for Byzantine Art has exhibitions, workshops, and an beautiful example of  a restored Venetian-Turkish mansion. The Fortezza is the site of the ancient acropolis. It has massive walls, a church and mosque, and plenty to explore.
Elounda is a beach town filled cafes, restaurants, and a quaint little seafront. Here is where one will find Crete all inclusive resorts, with walkways, gardens, and pools. Or travel to Agios Nikolaos and explore it's "bottomless lake"--actually an inlet from the sea, with unkown depth.  Or explore Agia Gallini, built around a small harbor. There are plenty of harbor-front cafes, eateries, and most hotels have a view of the sea.
